Abe Reid was born in Forsyth County, North Carolina on February 11, 1972. He
was raised in Statesville, North Carolina. His father was a carpenter. His
mother, a schoolteacher. At the age of ten, Abe learned to play guitar while
his stepfather played fiddle. His stepfather, a big influence in Abe's life,
was later murdered.

Abe was one of the founding members of The Blue Rags (Sub-Pop) but left the
group to pursue solo efforts before they recorded for the label. Abraham Reid
has helped Music Maker Relief Foundation with elderly artists including Guitar
Gabriel, Cootie Stark and Willa Mae Buckner aka The Snake Lady.

Abe won the local talent contest playing (part of the time) with a borrowed
National Steel and has been billed as "Low Down Dirty Blues and Ragtime". He
had competed in the local contest for three years and had ranked in the top
three winners the previous two times before his lst place win. (The first
time he entered, it was with The Blue Rags.)

Abe has received a lot of support from the people who believe in his talent
including Lynn Gladden, his booking agent, and his wife, Jan. The inspiration
of his baby daughter, Maggie, and his mother, Candy, must also be included.
Abe will accompany Cootie Stark on an upcoming Music Maker Relief Foundation
cd.

Sorry....guess I was excited! Of course, they should have been included. As
well as David Shephard Music Instruments in Greensboro, who also lent a hand!
