Yesterday night I watched on TNT -for the fifteenth time- "The Color
Purple". There's a moment when a fight starts in the juke joint, while
Celie (Whoopi Woldberg) is quietly sitting and everyone around her is
knocking each other, that I could hear John Lee Hooker singing Boogie
Chillen (it was difficult to guess because of the noise) or something
sounding like that.
The question is, since this happened around the mid-30'... did JLH
record some boogie tune by those years?
BTW, Sonny Terry and Roy Gaines were there too...

JLH recorded Boogie Chillen for the fist time in Detroit, November 1948
issued by Modern, Kent and Crown.
JLH never recorded prewar.
There are quiet a few songtitles with "Boogie" in it. See also Lucille
Boogan 'Boogan Ways'; Blind Lemon Jefferson 'Booger Rooger Blues'; ... Jimmy
Yancey, Deryck Sampson, Jimmie 'The Boogie Man' Gordon, Albert Ammons, Pete
Johnson, these are rather boogie woogie piano pieces, Willie Reed , Robert
Petway ... happy hunting
