First off, my condolences go to Robert Warren's family.

An interesting aspect of this story is that for some
unknown reason Mr. Warren (he's been w/ the group since
'70) failed to make a scheduled 6AM Sat flight to Florida
for a gig there last night. The band's mgr mentioned that
he might have been in the area to visit a Blues club...I'm
guessing that would have --more than likely-- been R.L.'s
Blues Palace. hmmm.

I thought that at first. I've been to RL's so many times I can't even count
them now. I've always found RL's to be safer than the West End. I'm
immediately escorted in and out. And IF you know what you're doing it's only
about 4 blocks from the Freeway and Fair Park. RL's isn't really in that
area. Arandas is right off of Hatcher & Malcomb X. Does 10 blocks in this
neighborhood make a difference. Heck yes.

I think it's a shame that the media is blaming this on South Dallas and blues
in general.

I didn't read it like that--all the media did was mention S. Dallas as
being the area where the murder took place, not that it was to blame....and
the reference to the
Blues club was made by the late Mr Warren's manager (the media just reported
it).

The Dallas Morning News says "None of the group's current members, including
Mr. Warren, were original members of the group."
