Dave Weckl is this monster drummer who plays some very technical if not soulful jazz. He has recently gone from the Zildjian Cymbal Company to Sabian. This has resulted in a tremendous amount of discussion on the percussion list and this reply supposedly from Dave, although it's veracity may be in doubt.

I have my doubts as to the authenticity of this.....

Why I switched to Sabian

I would like to first say hello to all my fans. I certainly appreciate
your love. The reason why I had to leave Zildjian was because I am going
to start a cross over country music singing career. Zildjian was not
supportive of this whatsoever. Being as it may, my mullet hair is
perfect for this. I have been working with Billy Ray Cyrus on some dance
moves and my first single entitled, "Achy Breaky Cock." The tune was
written for my partner and hair stylist Bruce. I have found a whole new
fan club with my Mullet Styling Centers. I am happy to announce that NFL
quarterback Doug Flutie will be the VP of operations. I was deeply
saddened when Zildjian would not support my new singing career and
Mullet Organization. Along with more advanced Mullet styling clinics, I
will also do more drum clinics on how to more powerfully infuse my well
known white as a sheet playing style into all musical situations. Sabian
has been so supportive of this. My new Signature line of cymbals will
have a special white coating on them to let the world know that all the
users will sound stiff and sport mullets. As always, I appreciate the
support of my fans and hope to see you all soon at our soon to be opened
Mullet Styling Centers.
Yours in stiffness and Mulletdome
Big Dave
