Is anybody still here? Is anybody else thinking/wondering about Bill Wax?
I know this day(s) in blues history is important, whoever was born/died
on this day is important, what songs DJs are playing in various markets
throughout the states is also equally important, but what about the future
history of the blues, is that important too? In my opinion and the opinions of
almost everyone I know that loves/respects and listens to the blues past
and present, Bill Wax has been one of the best voices of the blues world and
a walking encyclopedia of blues knowledge and he has educated so many
blues lovers I know for many years on XM and later SiriusXM Bluesville. One of
the few guys who even bothered to actually pronounce the names of the
artists we love correctly on top of everything else. And then I get the email
last week in a blues newsletter about some health issues and leaving (or
being fired?) from the best blues radio show in the world today,
how/what/why????? His interviews with BB King and other artists like Janiva Magness
were legendary, beautiful, insightful, soulful, honest, and heartfelt. I
turn on channel 70 Bluesville all weekend and there's just a dead empty void,
no announcements, no DJs, no nothing. Did Stern take all the money from
the other channels and leave them out to dry? What the hell gives???? I
tried to email Bill and his email is dead, it feels like the end of an era and
the death of blues radio as we know it. Ok just wanted to vent and
looking for answers, if anyone knows anything, feel free to post something,
