Omega Events wishes to express our deepest sympathy to the families affected
by the tragic events of September 11. As the promoters of the Doheny Days
Music Festival, we want to announce that “the show will go on” as scheduled,
this weekend September 15-16, 2001.
Obviously, our first obligation was to contact the bands about their travel
arrangements. Not only did all of the bands confirm that they can make it to
Dana Point this weekend, they also expressed their strong desire to perform
for their fans.
The American Red Cross will have a booth at the festival and we encourage
everyone to stop by to get more information about donations and blood
drives.
Music is a form of celebration - and music can heal heavy hearts. Come join
us this weekend to congregate with friends and family and celebrate the
lives and mourn the loss from this week's tragedy. We look forward to seeing
everyone at Doheny Days.

Wade,
My son and I will be there on Saturday, from Brian Young and the Blues Station's
opening to the close, even if it's the Doobie Brothers. <g>
Right now I feel dead inside; I'm just going through the motions of being alive.
Nevertheless, I will never renounce my right to strive for happiness.

Random musical phrases keep swirling around in my head, such as the following:
"The wars are long; the peace is frail. The madmen come again. There can be no
freedom in a land where fear and hate prevail.
"Isn't this a time, isn't this a time... a time to try the souls of men. Isn't this
a terrible time."
-- Lee Hays, et al, of The Weavers, "Wasn't That a Time"
"Many years have passed, and still I wonder why
The worst of men must fight, and the best of men must die."
-- Woody Guthrie, "The Reuben James"
"And I knew if I had the chance, I could make the people dance, and maybe they'd be
happy for a while."
-- Don McLean, "American Pie"
Yours truly,
Dave Morefield
P.S. Noticing your email address, I wonder: Is The Coach House a sponsor of Doheny
Days 2001? How about the Doheny Blues Festival, held earlier this year? (I'm
looking for new favorite blues festival, now that the one down the street from me has
had Chuck Berry as a headliner, not once, but twice.)
