is anyone out there using voice recognition with dictation and a
speech synthesizer, braille device or zoomtext? I would appreciate
comments on performance and system requirements for using effectively.

I would also like to know if it integrates well with window access
programs such as window bridge or screenpower for windows.

Cheryl,
I can send you that info. I am on the CTEVH committee and would be glad
to get that info for you. They have not sent out registration packets yet
that I know of, at least, I have not received mine yet. I will give the
coordinator of registration a call and let them know your address.

See you there!

Cserve could I feel try to give its blind users a speech
complient access program WITH at the very least a taped
tutorial, and at best a ready configured version for their
account so access could be easily gained. I do not think that
progress should be stopped, its just the heavy handed way they
have done it that annoys me. I left them cos I do not want the
hassle of trying to learn yet another piece of software!
If they had offered the above, I might have taken them up on it,
and it would do their public image good too.

For those concerned about being able to access CompuServe, this company has
many ways it can be accessed by those unable to read the screen without access
assistance. DOSCIM, the program provided by CIS for DOS users is accessible
with a need for only two simple settings using ASAP, and can be used with the
help of special configurations created for other screen access programs.
WINCIM, their WINDOWS program is easily accessible with WINDOWS screen readers
from ARTIC, Henter-Joyce, Berkeley Access, GW-Micro, and probably others.
Finally, TAPCIS, the upfront DOS Based software now available for CIS is being
rewritten to work with their changes, and is being rewritten with the needs of
blind users in the spotlight. K7
