It is rare that I put an inquiry out to the list and not et ONE response! I
am sure I have NOT stumped the list, but rather..this small request got lost
because I stuck it in a post that tried to cover too much ground.
I am looking for the lyrics to the song "Coming Down From God". I have it on
"The Heart of the Singer" CD, but they say they got it from Molly O'Day. So I
am ALSO interested in source info on the O'Day recording..if such a thing is
possible.
But mostly what I need are the lyrics! I can't even dig up a good Mondegreen
for the words I think I am hearing <g>
Thanks,

Molly O'Day's 1949 recording of the song appears on a 1990 Old Homestead
"limited collectors edition" LP (!), In Memory. Old Homestead's has been
putting some of its albums to CD in the last few years; this may now or in
the future be among them.

If no one hand-delivers the lyrics to you in satisfactory order, I'll try
to transcribe them for you.
Albert Hash did a version as well on "Cacklin' Hen" (Mountain 313).

It's also on *Molly O'Day and the Cumberland Mountain Folks* (Bear Family BCD-15565), a two CD set containing all of the Molly and Lynn Davis Columbia material. Powerful stuff.

This was also recorded by Jim and Jesse and The Virginia Trio, which may be
a more accessible version.

If you don't get an answer before tomorrow (first chance
I'll get to check since I'm at work and am going to
see Laurie Lewis tonight), I'll check the Bear Family
Molly O'Day set to see if it's there.
