Thanks!

1. Saturday 8:00am-10:00am John Davis on KPFK (FM 90.7) plays a good selection
of folk,
traditional string band and blue grass. He has been going for 20 plus years,
knows the local
festival scene, and runs a real low key pleasant program.
2. Monday 8:00pm-10:00pm Rene Engle on KPCC (FM 89.3) has his Citybilly
program. This is the
same show that used to be on KCRW in Santa Monica. Eclectic country mix, with
some bluegrass.
Not high pop country. Knowledgeable host who often features interviews with
touring artists.
Sometimes live music.
3. Thursdays 8:00pm to 10:00pm "The d-tuning Show" on KPCC (FM 89.3) (Sorry, I
can't remember
the host's name) features accoustical music of various genres, and usually has
some bluegrass.
Because he seeks out accoustical only music, the host tends to find some
off-the-wall stuff and
his choices are interesting, if not always appealing. If your tastes are
limited to BG pure and
simple, this may not be the show for you.
4. KPFK (90.7) also has a folk music show by a husband & wife team (The
Lahrmens - phonetic
spelling) but I don't remember the schedule. Some bluegrass. Often live studio
music.
KPCC is the NPR station from Pasadena City College. KPFK is the L.A. outlet for
Pacifica. Both
depend on public support (hint, hint).
I'm sure there are other L.A. BG radio outlets and hope they will be posted by
other list members
because I would like to learn about more choices also.

I am a little vague on things like exact times and call letters BUT:
Wildwood Flower, hosted by Ben Elder, is heard on KPFK- 90.7 FM, on
Tuesday (?) mornings from 10 a.m.-noon (?). For more accurate info you
can call the station at (818) 985-5735.
Bluegrass Express, hosted by Frank Javorsek, is heard on KCSN- 88.5 FM
on Saturday mornings from 7-10(?) a.m. The station's number is (818)
885-KCSN.
For a real long list, call The Blue Ridge Pickin' Parlor, (818)
700-8288 and ask them to mail you a copy of their new flyer, which
lists all the local bluegrass shows, times, stations, etc.
DISCLAIMER: I am not involved in any way with any of the radio
programs, stations or hosts listed above, other than as a listener.

From the Bluegrass Association of Southern California's newsletter:
KCSN 88.5 in Northridge "Bluegrass Express" with Frank Javorsek, Saturdays
8-10:30am, followed by "Whistlestop" with Howard Yearwood, 10:30-12:30
There are other programs, but this is an old issue and I know some of the
shows have moved timeslots. She could get in touch with BASC. P. O. Box
3927, Simi Valley, CA 93093. She could call the Blue Ridge Pickin Parlor @
818-700-8288, the folks there could probably get her more info.
Hope that helps!
Kathy
