My question for you.... My mother had remembered a tradition she had grown
up with ...but doesn't remember the meaning/symbolism of the act.
The ritual consisted of burning or scorching the heel or end of a loaf of
french bread in a fire and then placing the scorched bread into a pitcher of
wine. What was the significance or meaning of this. My mom thought that it
was done near the first of the year or around the holiday's.
Please let me know if you have any ideas.
