Belated thanks to all who replied on the above topic. In the end we agreed with
those who said that AACR2 are made to be bent/broken and we used Prince as the
main entry at 100.00 with a note about the squiggle thing. Do these
self-obsessed "artistic" people have any idea what trouble their whimsies can
cost everyone else? Dick Barrett
My question: is it a "moniker" or an "appelation"?

That distinction sent me scurrying to my dictionary! Both words have to do
with naming, but moniker has a second definition:
2. A tramp's initials or other mark of identification.
...oh my...
I don't think I want to touch that one!!!!! ;-)
