Terri,

Imagine this....there is a painting on your wall....a warm sandy beach, wtih
the ocean waves calmly rolling in & the sun is just setting. Beautiful hues
of red, pink, yellow and orange fill the sky. Now, all you have to do to get
there is say.."Blue skidoo we can too!" and jump on in!! :o) Sorry I
couldn't resist!....I too have heard enough of these songs,
commmercials...like "Marvins Magic Drawing Board" ugh! Hang in there girl,
he'll be back in school before you know it.

Hello everyone....its been a while since I have been able to come in and
read the posts...It has been a hellish two weeks...My son who is
Autistic has driving me crazy these past few weeks.. He has been out of
school because of vacation and I know he is so anxious and out of
routine. I cant tell you how many times in a day that I have to say
".No dont touch that" or..."Put that back"..."Stop it or your goin to
your room." ...I think I am goin insane here...I have had no car this
week cause my husband has started school... I have been trapped in the
house with an Autistic five year old and a two year old daughter as
well......I have watched so much of Nick Jr and Disney that I know every
damn theme song to every show... I have dreams about Blues Clues for
gods sake... And my son who imitates and scripts obsessively has learned
some new commercials...So now I hear commercials when I wake up in the
morning I hear....."No paint ...no paper...no mess at all..call
1-800-964-something something.. Some of his old behaviors are coming
back due to goin on 3 weeks of no inhome school or public school. He is
biting his shirt and screaming...And my daughter who thinks bubby is the
coolest kid is now copying every thing he does...So I have two kids
screaming and biting their shirts...She copies his scripts and thinks he
is soooooo funny... I am looking so forward to school starting again...
I love my son but I think he is making me insane here...I can only take
so much of Timon and Pumba ..and Aladdin ...Richard Scary and...PB and J
otter....GOD help me....Any way....I just had to vent here...I love all
you guys for listenin ...Some day I will be able to watch Oprah or maybe
some shows that have actual people in them....Lmao.....Thanks...Sorry I
had to get this off my chest ...I have to get some house work done...as
I sing the song from Bear and the Big Blue House I will fold some
laundry now....Have a great day!!.... Thanks......Terri

I have been going through this sort of stress also and My patience is wearing thin. My child is home for l month when she is used to having the structure she needs, perfect food, lots of attention (She asked to see her nurse yesterday like at school) ,her little autistic friends, something to do every minute (the exercise, music , art, computers) I am too boring for her I think. She is sleeping well and compared to last year very very good.
She does so much better with the group dynamics at school. I take her out to stores and she is pretty good but has been spoiled in the past by me and wants stuffs
At home she chatters constantly saying Why Why Why Why Why etc over and over again. She is doing the peeing thing so she can wash her underwear.
At school she is an angel. Someone who posts here has been to her school and has seen her and can vouch that she is the model student
This week I am being rescued by two of her teachers (one from Japan and the other Brazil) who are coming to see up every day from the 1st to the 7th as far as I know They both will not be here together everyday but at least one will.

I have stress from my NT 16 year old who is really being tough, our dog keeps getting loose and going in the muck of the cranberry bog (3 minutes after a bath Abbie let her out. My Homeless friend will be here another few days but is getting her own house very soon.
Being trapped without a car would really drive me crazy. I will think of Sweet Red Head when I am going through the day since Summer vacation is hard for all.

well I agree that summer vacation can drive you nuts I'd like to suggest that
you use the time to play with the kids, try some art projects, read books
together, go for long walks, fly a kite, splash in water, skip rocks, play pooh
sticks on a bridge, go on a picnic, go to the beach, go buy popsicles, draw
with chalk on the sidewalk, cook together, there are so many ways you can keep
a kid occupied and the housework will wait another week - TV is great as a
diversion but not a full time occupation. Childhood and summer is short, we can
give the gift of play to our kids by teaching them to play, and we reap the
benefits of being less stressed and relaxed. Sue

Hi

I like to think of myself as a really patient, stress free woman but boy do these summer holidays get to me. I have Anthony 6 HFA and Phillip 5 NT both wanting my constant attention. I also get the little one copying Anthonys worst behaviours. He has recently started hitting me because he has seen his brother do it so many times.
With only 4 more days to go before school starts I am afraid I lost my cool yesterday. Sometimes all I want is to be able to think for myself. My car was also off the road for a few days getting repaired so I was stuck at home and even if it is working I find it difficult to go anywhere with the pair of them alone. Apart from that the weather is so rainy here - typical british summer.
Anyway like I said yesterday I blew it and I ended up giving them both a good talking to when I had calmed down.
Today everything is calm - so far but I feel as if I am on a knife edge waiting for Thursday. So I'm with you on this one. All will be back to 'normal' soon - I hope!!!!
Bye for now
Elaine

I must admit...I love the disney movies. I walk thru the supermarket humming
the tunes. I'm not at the stress point of having the kids home. things are fine
when they go outside and play. What's stressing me is the past week my hubby
has been at work from 7 am till 9 pm and he worked this weekend (so, he's there
now). If I get an hour to myself I'm a happy camper. I'm kinda sad that school
is starting in a week and a half. I loved having my kids around and not having
to fuss with homework, bookbags and school lunches (altho my tune may change
once school actually starts :-D ). My 5 year old is going to all day
kindergarden and boy so I hate the thought of that! He is too angelic and
helpful to not miss during the school year!

You know, the more I read your posts the more I am totally convinced
that we are identical twins separated at birth. And if we are:
We just figured out Blue's Clues,
We just figured out Blue's Clues,
We just figured out Blue's Clues,
Because we're really smart :-)!

LOL!!!

I made a reference to Blues Clues once to a friend and she told me "Hon...you
need to get out more often..." Well, HELLO! (hee hee)

Hubby's working all this week from noon till midnight...the last week of the
kids summer vacation...talk about stress...ugh!!! Last night Seth wet the bed
completely thru to the bottom of the mattress...the sad thing is he was
sleeping with hubby! so, here we all were up at 4am. Hubby went back to sleep
till 9:30. I finally got out of bed at 6:00, full well knowing seth wasn't
going back to sleep and I brought Seth downstairs to watch...what else?...a
disney movie. Seth fell back to sleep at 9:30 till 11:00 and I've been up ever
since. Does anyone happen to have a cup of caffeine???

Hi Kat

Poor you. I've had a 'few' days and nights like that myself. Since the
Psychologists visit I have had Anthony blowing hot and cold for a few days
now. I've just caught a kick in the mouth so I have a swollen lip now. He
attacked Phillip while they were both lying on the floor and I got caught in
the cross fire as I went to pull him off. He has fallen straight to sleep
after it all calmed down and I can't wait until Thurs now when school
starts. He despretly needs his routine back.
As for me, I've retreated to my computer to do some work. It will be a late
night/early morning job for me so I have caffine on standby.
I wish though that somebody would invent pure bottled energy!!!!
Anyway, bye for now
Elaine

Thanks for the pity Elaine...sometimes I love to wallow in it...(lol). (Poor
you too!!!)

I should consider myself very lucky. Seth has been fairly good the past 2 weeks
(he's been out of school). We only had to restrain him 5 times in 2 weeks.
Twice in the car to and from Maine (which his outburst was understandable
because I myself wanted to scream at all the darn traffic), once at the beach
because he was exhausted (and I barely restrained him then. I just told him to
go sit on the stairs and had to hold his wrists while I led him there.) Once
yesterday because he seeks out his 2 year old brother to beat him up, and my
husband had to control him once for the same reason. He purposely goes to the 2
year old and punches him square in the face, whereas he just pokes everyone
else...he has a steelfinger (wasn't that a Bond movie <g>). I'd love to know
why, if anyone has any insight on that one. Anyway, it's a far cry from a
couple times a day previously. We eliminated dairy from his diet...I wonder if
that's it? My husband is going to look into stress management seminars when
work slows down because he's afraid he's going to really hurt Seth. My husband
has NO patience at all and he's asking me for help. Has anyone ever gone to a
stress seminar? what should we expect from it? Has it been helpful? Thanks in
advance.

Hello everyone! I was just sitting here reading your posts and I just had
to respond. I am sooooooo happy to hear that other parents actually feel
the way I do. I love my son to death but boy am I glad school startts this
week. This boy is driving me crazy! He is jumping all over me at this very
moment!!! I thought that it was wrong of me to feel this way. After all as
a parent it is our job to deal wth whatever comes our way - so I try to deal
with it and not complain, but it gets hard sometimes. Between working all
day and trying to be some type of "parent" at night - you find yourself
always playing catch up. IT JUST IS NOT ENOUGH TIME IN THE day!! Anyway, I
just wanted to say thank -you to all of you. You really made me feel
better!!!

You mean there is a life other than this way? Ha ha. I have not had a
day without Nickelodeon or PBS in over 6 years! That was when my
daughter, now 7 started watching tv. THen came Anthony-5 and Shaina
almost 4. The irony of it all, is next week the two oldest go to school
all day and Shaina goes part time for pre-k, but my unemployment runs
out and now I hav to get a job. When I can finally have the house to
myself I can't be home. Ha ha.

I'm lucky Anthony is not agressive but he doesn't sit still for even a
minute. Lately he likes to run water in the bathroom sink and fill it
with his toys. I dried the rug out so many times that I finally stopped
putting it back in the room.

They all need to get back to school. Maybe by the time they finish a
school day they will be too exhausted to wreck the house. I hope so!

Funny. I always loved having my kids at home too and hated to send them
off to school. Summer was fun in June and July but by now I can't seem
to fill their days any longer. We have done it all, the lake, the zoo,
carnivals, Marineland in Canada, Niagara Falls, Six Flags Adventure
Park, weekends away, day camp for my 7 year old, summer pre school
classes for Anthony, thousands of art projects, trips to the park,
everything is old hat now. They are more than ready for school and I am
more than ready to send them, just because they need it. They need the
routine and the activities. I enjoy being able to share in their
classroom activities. So, we all will be happy campers.

Are you doing the gluten and dairy free diet? If not, you need to look into
it. How about any supplements? There is so much going on right now in the way
of research.
I thought I would go crazy too, until we started the diet. What a huge change!

Write back if you want help getting started.
