How many times do I have tell you?! *Pharoah* *Sanders* blows goats --
Sharrock is a guitarist. You know ... like John Zorn. Jeez, damned
Canadian women -- try to teach 'em about jazz, and all they can think about
is blowing things!!

Indiscretions?! That's not what those pipers said when I took them back
to the rental place. That story of yours about them chasing those
maids-a-milkin' just doesn't wash sweetie. Those guys could barely walk,
and you should hear the stories they were telling about you.
As for the tape -- it was supposed to get you in a sexy mood, not make
you catatonic. Good thing you always have a lifeguard on duty, eh?
>Well, what can I say. I like being on top. Sue me!
I may just do that. I'm having my lawyers (the Firm of Stroekum, Poekum
and Fergetum) look into it. I think you may have done some permanent
damage.

I'm not surprised. I knew you went for the intellectual type, so I
figured it was either Jerry or Renato. Knowing you, you'll probably make
it a group thing with Jerry and George K and a dozen of their best friends.
I shoulda listened to Bob Tee. He tried to warn me about Canadian
girls, but I figured if I could handle Texas gals, then y'all couldn't
possibly be any worse. Go figure ...
BTW, could you and Jerry please keep the flirting under control. This
is supposed to be a music list. And one more thing: Get a room, for
chrissakes!! ;*)

Now just a darned minute, you young whipper-snapper!! Why if I was ten
years younger ... and could find my glasses ... and remembered where I'd
put my teeth ... and where's my darned cane ... uh, what was I saying?

Sounds cool. Hope you enjoyed mine.

Uh, folks -- I think we have a late entry for most clueless poster.

It was me who tabbed him as "anti-intellectual". I too think he was one
of the most thoughtful figures in rock, but that doesn't change the fact
that he was *very* anti-intellectual. Maybe it's the terminology that's
the problem here. When I say "anti-intellectual", it has nothing to do
with the intelligence of the person involved, rather it refers, in FZ's
case, to someone who thinks there is too much of an emphasis placed on the
idea that formal schooling is necessary for really acquiring knowledge.
Basically, he had a disdain for the "institution" of formal education.

His versatility and his improvising skills have always really impressed
me too. Last Exit was a band that *never* practiced, and just got together
and went on and did their live shows. Laswell was able to fit into a
lineup of pretty heavy improvisers (RSJ, Sharrock and Brotzmann), and he
was the bedrock for that group.
