Could some of you recommend or share your experiences with programming
tools available for UNIX? We are in the process of setting up a
development environment on a 580 running AIX with programmers that
have mainframe TSO/ISPF skills. I am interrested in full screen tools
that will allow edit, file control, compiles, job control ...etc.

Thanks,

You should have a look at the SDE (Software Development Environment)
WorkBench/6000. It's an IBM product and has been available since May 92.
It has edit/compile/debug capabilities and other tools.
It is also a platform for tool integration based on some common technology
with HP SoftBench that allows tools to communicate with each other.
