The College of Education and the Center for Indian
Education are the proud recipients of a doctoral fellowship
grant from the Bilingual Education Graduate Fellowship
Program of the U.S. Department of Education. This
fellowship program will support 8 doctoral students for
full-time study starting with the 1998-99 academic year.
Students may be prospective or currently enrolled doctoral
(either EdD or PhD) students in nearly any doctoral program
in the College of Education who will, during their
subsequent doctoral studies take a concentration in
American Indian Education and Bilingual/Multicultural
Education. Criteria for selection include experience
working with Native Americans and a willingness to continue
after the degree in working in education in culturally and
linguistically diverse settings.
Selected applicants will receive full tuition waiver (out-
of-state or in-state), a $500/month stipend for twelve
months of the year, all fees, $300 annual book allowance
and $250 annual travel allowance. Students must agree to be
full-time resident students starting in the Fall of 1998.
Students are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week for
compensation during the period of the fellowship award.
