Early Childhood Schooling
The Department of Education at the University of California,
Los Angeles & the National Center for Early Development and
Learning are seeking an outstanding candidate for a junior or
mid-career Ph.D. researcher with a particular interest in the
early schooling experiences of children from diverse ethnic
groups. Areas of research may include, but are not limited to
cognitive, language, social, or emotional development in
young children; child and family resilience; public preschool
education and child care policy. Expertise in either
qualitative or quantitative research strategies is required,
as is an appreciation of other research strategies.
The position is open to doctoral-level applicants from
various disciplines including Anthropology, Sociology, Social
Work, Education, Developmental Psychology, and Women's or
Ethnic Studies. The individual filling this position will be
expected to work closely with both a local and national team,
bring a point of view and expertise that will substantially
enhance current work, and take a leadership role in
developing and leading a program of research related to
longitudinal studies, quality assessment and measure
development.
