Assistant Professor - Multimedia Design and Training


POSITION: Assistant Professor, tenure track, Department of
MultiMedia Design. Available August, 1999. Duties associated
with this 12 month appointment include teaching in Multimedia
Design (preferred: instructional design, instructional
technology, or educational technology) - up to 12 credit
hours during each of the two semesters and 7 credit hours
during the two month summer session; carrying out
professional development activities (e.g. conducting faculty
development and professional multimedia seminars, research
and other scholarly activities); and providing service to the
Department, School, University, students, and the community.
The Department of MultiMedia Design has 4 full-time faculty
members and offers A.A.S. and B.S. degrees in MultiMedia
Design. Degree requirements can be found at

in/mmd. The Department is in the process of evolving into the
Center of Excellence in MultiMedia Design. The charter for
the center anticipates faculty and students working with
business and industry to solve problems in education,
training, training technologies, and marketing. The
Departments faculty and staff offices, classrooms and
laboratories are housed in Howell Hall.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: An earned Masters Degree in one of
the MultiMedia-related areas above (preferred: instructional
design, instructional technology, or educational technology);
evidence of the potential to be an effective and dynamic
faculty member in both the classroom and laboratory; desire
to carry out quality professional development activities,
including the involvement of undergraduate students majoring
in MultiMedia Design; interest in modern instructional
techniques and technologies including distance education
techniques and technologies; and a willingness to provide
scholarly service to the Department, School, University,
students and community.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: An earned Ph.D. in one of the
MultiMedia-rel ated areas above (preferred: instructional
design, instructional technology, or educational technology);
one or more years of college teaching and/or training
development experience in government or industry; evidence of
on-going, quality, professional development activities which
are suitable for undergraduate student involvement; evidence
of scholarly service to the academic and/or governmental or
industrial communities: experience and skills in modern
computer and web-based instructional techniques and
technologies and distance education techniques and
technologies.

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with educational background and
experience.

INSTITUTION: Cameron University is a state-supported regional
institution located in Lawton, Oklahoma. The city of
Lawton/Fort Sill has a population of more than 100,000 and is
located in Southwest Oklahoma adjacent to the Wichita
Mountains and the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge.
Lawton/Fort Sill is among the most culturally and racially
