Reports To: Director, Office of Research Assessment and
Evaluation
Description:
To assist in all aspects of student assessment development
and administration as part of the BPS Citywide Assessment
Program, including identifying and developing new forms of
assessment which are appropriate for bilingual and special
needs students and analyzing, interpreting and reporting
results.
Required:
(1) Master's Degree in Educational Measurement, Research,
Evaluation, or related field;
(2) Demonstrated experience using computer packages to
analyze data (e.g., SPSS, SAS or LISREL);
(3) Knowledge of and experience in development of alternative
forms of assessment such as performance assessment;
(4) Demonstrated experience writing both technical reports
and reports appropriate for the board school community;
(5) Ability to work effectively and comfortably in team-
oriented, fast paced environment both with the department and
across departments; and
(6) Ability to work well with school-based personnel.
Preferred:
(1) Excellent oral communication skills;
(2) Experience developing and/or administrating educational
assessment systems; and
(3) Experience working with large mainframe student
databases.
Responsibilities:
(1) Applies knowledge of academic assessment principles and
practices to the development, analysis and reporting of
student assessment measures;
(2) Applies knowledge of assessment issues as they relate to
regular education, bilingual education and special needs
students to the development, analysis and reporting of
student assessment measures especially emerging performance
assessment methodologies;
(3) Coordinates dissemination and return of assessment
materials to and from schools;
(4) Writes both technical reports and reports targeted for
the broad school community on assessment results;
(5) Provides workshops to schools on developing assessments,
scoring, and interpreting results; and
(6) Performs other related assignments as required by the
Director.
