MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate with four years of
appropriate experience in assessment and evaluation
methodologies. Experience overseeing institutional research
activities and projects.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in higher education.

SPECIAL POSITION NOTES: The anticipated start date for this
position is on or around May 1, 1999. Appointment will be
made at a faculty rank commensurate with the candidate's
experience on a multi-year contract. The length of service
for each year within the multi-year contract period is
negotiable (i.e., 10, 11, or 12 months per academic year).

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Reports to the Dean of Planning
and Evaluation. Responsible for developing and maintaining a
university-wide evaluation system, in accordance with the
university's institutional effectiveness plan, to determine
institutional effectiveness. Plans, organizes, and implements
programs in the areas of institutional effectiveness and
outcomes assessment. Conducts assessment studies and serves
as a resource person to academic and administrative offices
with regard to assessment and evaluation methodologies. Works
with the university-wide Institutional Effectiveness Council,
a high level committee which guides and coordinates the
university's institutional effectiveness activities. Ensures
that the university's institutional research process provides
accurate and appropriate data to the university community for
use in institutional improvement. This position may include
teaching responsibilities as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must have strong leadership
skills and be able to work in collaboration with others. Must
demonstrate competence in conceptualizing institutional
effectiveness issues, implementing strategies to address the
issues, and carrying projects forward to a successful
conclusion. Must have ability to write analyses and results
in a manner that communicates clearly to members of the
university and external communities.
