MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Earned Doctorate in educational/computer
technology, instructional systems, or a related field from an
accredited institution.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of three successful years teaching
in a K-12 setting as a teacher or instructional technology specialist;
commitment to distance learning; and demonstrated effectiveness in
teaching at a university level.

SPECIAL POSITION NOTES: Appointments will be made at an assistant
professor faculty rank on a 9-month multi-year appointment basis,
available August 2002. Application packages, including additional
materials submitted such as videos, tapes, slides, books, etc., are
subject to public review under Florida's Public Records law and shall
become the property of FGCU and can not be returned.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The College of Education is committed to
site-based preparation of teachers, counselors and educational
leaders. All faculty will be expected to be excellent teachers,
responsive to community and local school or district needs, committed
to innovative delivery of instruction resulting in improved student
learning, able to deal effectively with a diverse range of learners,
and committed to the effective use of technology including distance
learning. Responsibilities include teaching instructional technology
that integrates technology in instructional settings for students in
educational leadership, counselor education, and teacher preparation
programs (K-12) at the undergraduate and graduate levels;
collaborating with other faculty members in the College of Education
to develop team and site?based teacher preparation programs; assisting
in the development/implementation of a distance-based instructional
technology graduate program that is innovative, research-based, and
responsive to needs of working professionals; advising students; and
scholarly productivity.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: The College of Education seeks a
teacher/scholar in educational technology with a vision of how to
design and develop environments that enhance teaching and learning in
the schools for a diverse range of learners. Essential to have
knowledge and practical experience working in a distance education
environment; with web design; web technologies, such as WebCT,
Dreamweaver and HTML; teaching in a K-12 setting; building and
managing an education technology program and demonstrated ability to
collaborate with colleagues to pursue an ongoing program of shared
research, presentation, and publication.
