alternative for matlab in ubuntu

ok.........the problem with me is that i cant install matlab 6 /7 on
windows ...........i am able to install but it gets close after some
time automatically............if u can suggest answer for
that ............well and good.......
if not can some one suggest an alternative for matlab on ubuntu
9.04......from net ...........i came to know abt
1. scilab ...
2. freemat ..
3. octave ..
but their interface r not similar to matlab as per i
think.............

Download matlablinux.iso from dc++ and install it .
