He often distributes his creations -- stickers, memo pads, etc. -- compulsively and free of charge. Reprinted with permissionThe concept of this Sticker Dude was born in 1989 in the parking lot on the second night of a Nassau Coliseum gig of a Grateful Dead Fall Tour. After he released "We Are Everywhere," his first Grateful Dead Sticker the night before, the word spread rapidly. Deadheads came running after him yelling, "Yo Sticker Dude, gimme some of them stickers." Because the Stickerdude sent me two wonderful stamps I worked on a special enveloppe for him which will go out today. Off course I used the new rubber and also some old rubber to illustrate the letter. The new rubberstamps will be very usefull and work well with the other play.

Joel S. Cohen (born April 17, 1947, The Bronx, New York) is an American graphic artist and cofounder, along with Diane E. Milder, of Ragged Edge Press,[1] an independent offset printing company in New York City. Principally recognized for his creative mail art projects and artistic collaborations with Thomas Kerr and Kurt Vonnegut, Cohen has been creating, printing, and distributing progressive political art since the early 1970s.[2]

Influenced by the Dada and Fluxus movements and by the Grateful Dead, Cohen, also known as The Sticker Dude, combines images with lyrics, aphorisms, and symbols to create socially relevant, printed artwork, which is often in the form of stickers, postcards, and stamps.[3] Although Cohen freely distributes his artwork at public events and performances, his ongoing, larger artistic mission is to contribute to an eternal network of mail art projects.[4] Through Ragged Edge Press, Cohen has created more than 500 "Irreverant" rubber stamps, which have been used in hundreds of mail art projects and featured in publications by John Held, Jr.[5]

Choose a flat or slightly curved area to apply this Dude Distressed Sticker. Clean the surface to remove any dust or dirt and let the area dry completely. Carefully peel the sticker off the backing, and this is very important for some custom shapes. Apply the sticker to the surface with even firm pressure starting from the center point of the shape and slowly laying it down towards the edges. Rub the sticker lightly towards the edges to get rid of any bubbles.
