Installed the latest updates this morning and no problems yet with video, audio, or VirtualBox OSE. I'm in te process of updating my Xubuntu machine to 9.10 as well but it will take longer since it was still running 8.04 and is progressing through each the updates.

I did a complete reinstall on my laptop. It has cleared up a lot of
little annoyances that I had with 8.10. I still can't get my screen to
dim though. The only problem I had was with Firefox being very slow
looking up sites. The fix was to disable ipv6 in Firefox and it works
fine now.
