[BisManLUG] Eqonomize on Ubuntu 10.04

Eqonomize is a great little simple checkbook/accounting program. I have
been using it for several years now. With the upgrade to 10.04 it has
developed a strange habit. Right after the upgrade it would not load
from the menu - that's not completely correct it would load and appear
for approximately 2 seconds and then leave the screen to return to the
menu. Google showed the following fix:

apt-get --build source eqonomize
sudo dpkg -i eqonomize*.deb

which restored the program.

Sometime in the last 2 days when I did the updates I managed to recreate
the previous issue not just on one computer but on both my netbook
running 10.04 NBR and my desktop running 10.04 AMD64. The previous fix
worked on the netbook and I will try it on the desktop later.

No idea what cause the problem with the menu launcher but thought I
would share the issue and the fix in case anyone else is using eqonomize.

Hi,

Quite often running the app from the command line reveals some clues as
to why it won't load.

Also, If you still have the binary version from the official repository
still installed, then it will reinstall itself over the top of your
source build when a new updated version is available.

I would recommend you uninstall the binary version of the app before you
do a build from source.
