The RULES for SB0264 The Safe Childbirth Act- Public Act 095-0445
Freestanding Birth Centers
were posted for 45-day Public Comment on Friday August 20, 2010.

This will be a 45-day period for Public Comment. The Rules will then
go to JCAR (Joint Committee on Admistrative Rules).


The members of the Birth Center Task force will be reviewing the Rules
during this Public Comment period and making recommendations for
review and specific points that might be addressed. We will make our
comments available to all members and interested parties of Birth
Centers.

Has anyone else read the rules and care to discuss them.
I have not gone out to references i.e Life Safety Code, etc. but plan
to try and find those on line.
These codes IMO are too much. They describe mini- L&D suites. The
beginnin of rules say birth center is not a hospital, but I suspect
these rules for electrical, nurses station, recovery room, family
conference room, HVAC requirements etc come directly from what
hospitals are required to do (but I have not yet looked up references
as I said earlier) I have been to 23 birth centers in 13 states in
past 3 years as part of my DNP project and the birth centers do not
look anything like what is described in R&R.
Can we start a discussion about these?
