Call lights, etc

Calming down a bit here after my precious rant... I wonder if they would be open to modification of their terminology on some of this stuff, for instance, instead of specifying call light, something like "means of alerting personnel when out of the pt's room" and give them a hand bell or baby monitor.
I haven't gone through the code yet, but possibly there are other regs where the concern they are trying to address could be attended to in other ways than how it is done in-hospital.
