Thepurpose of Slime Rancher is right there in the title - run a ranch full of slimes. However, unlike the traditional farm animals, slimes are much trickier to care for and contain. They can be very picky with what they eat, and their inherent bounciness makes it easy for them to escape if you don't prep properly.

The reason you're ranching slimes is for Plorts, valuable byproducts that slimes produce periodically. Different slimes produce different Plorts which have varying values, but you don't have to sacrifice all your space to each type of slime. You can instead combine them into Largo slimes that are able to produce multiple types of Plorts at once.

Alongside the basic Slimes that you can find out in the field, you can also encounter Largo Slimes. These are a combination of multiple slime types, appearing larger and having physical distinctions based on their types. In addition to being able to produce two types of plorts at once, they also adopt the behaviors of their source slimes allowing you to adjust their diets. You can make a largo simply by feeding a slime a plort different from its own. Here are the best options.

The Glass Desert is an interesting location to visit, and you're guaranteed to encounter Tangle and Dervish Slimes while you're there. Since they're both docile, it's quite easy to capture them and take them back to the ranch where you can turn them into a valuable Largo.

Their plorts are relatively valuable being worth 75 Newbucks each. In terms of characteristics, Tangles are meat-eaters while Dervishes are fruit-eaters, so turning them into a Largo will allow you to focus entirely on a fruit-based diet, specifically Prickle Pears.

Of all the areas you'll get to explore in Slime Rancher, the Moss Blanket is where you'll spend much of your time. It's one of the first areas you'll get access to, and it's quite calm and full of a variety of slimes. This includes the sweet Honey Slime and the intimidating-sounding Hunter Slime.

Since they're both docile and encountered early on, this is a Largo you can start making to get some quick plorts valued at 45 and 60 Newbucks. This will also allow you to make their diet fruit-based with their favorite food being Mint Mango.

There are a bunch of different Slimes that vastly differ in power and action, so it's best to be cautious around the more unusual ones. This applies to the spiky Crystal Slimes that can be found in the Indigo Quarry and the mysterious Quantum Slimes found in the Glass Desert and Ancient Ruins.

Though the Crystal Slime is harmful and Quantum Slimes can be difficult to manage, it's worth turning them into a Largo. Though their plorts have a good value of 60 Newbucks each, these slimes' combined weakness to water makes their hazards much easier to manage. They have an easy diet of both veggies and fruits.

You don't need to be a scientist to know that you shouldn't mix explosives, but that's a different story in Slime Rancher. The two Slimes of Rad and Boom have some very volatile qualities which you can encounter in various areas, but both can spawn in the Indigo Quarry and Wilds.

They're both harmful in terms of exploding and giving off radiation, but combining them can make them easier to keep in check. Their plorts share a value of 45 Newbucks, their Largo can subsist on veggies, and both of their harmful energies can be suppressed with water.

If Slime Rancher has a mascot, it's the Pink Slime. These happy blobs can be found all over alongside the grumpier Rock Slimes as distinguished by their spikes. Since these slimes can be found early on, it makes sense to combine them into a Largo to get a quick boost in plorts and Newbucks.

Though the Pink Slimes are quite friendly, they're not the only happy and harmless slimes you can encounter. The playful Tabby Slime which can be found all over and the night-only glowing Phosphor Slime are both cheerful in appearance and make for good Largo partners.

It's another combo that makes for a more manageable fruit-based diet with a favorite in Cuberries. Though their plorts are both worth 22 Newbucks each, the value of this combo is that it can be farmed early on for easy money.

Though the world of Slime Rancher may seem bright and colorful, there is also an element of danger that can be found in harmful and feral Slimes. The fiery Mosaic Slime and the aggressive Saber Slime are examples of such dangers lurking in areas like the Glass Desert and the Wilds respectively.

You should combine these two into a Largo slime to get plorts with values of 60 and 75 Newbucks. It also makes it so that the combo will have a favorite food in Silver Parsnips to keep them happy while water can be used to keep their fiery light in check.

So all in all, hunting for these rare slimes at night will increase your chances of finding them, but will make them harder to spot in general due to their ability to turn invisible. Keep your eyes and ears open however, and you should be able to find some.

No there is no specific time after dark when the hunter slimes spawn rate increases. The following youtube video (video) shows an actual location however, which is claimed by multiple users in THIS reddit post to have a higher or possibly faster spawn rate.

If u go to the meadows at night with full fruit meat and veggie the left corner of the map has hunter largo slimes that are feral feed them to get their mineral. Then when u get home u can mix them with another slime. Feeding them also calms them down so they wont attack u afterward.

Tabby slimes are back from the original Slime Rancher, as these adorable kitties were always a fan-fave. As meat eaters, they can be quite difficult to keep fed unless you have an active chicken coop, so your best bet is to combine some Tabbies with Pink or Cotton slimes to add to their dietary choices.

Of course a slime called the Hunter would be a carnivore. Another fan-favorite from SR1, Hunter slimes are still just as rare and valuable as they ever were. Be careful when you are out in the further reaches of Rainbow Island, as Hunter slime can appear invisible, and their Largo variants always spawn feral. Your best bet to getting a Hunter plort farm going at the ranch is simply to keep an eye out for stray Hunter plorts on the ground, and feed them to another source slime.

Another new discovery on Rainbow Island, Batty slimes have unique characteristics. While they can survive in the daylight, it agitates them, so you might want to keep them under solar shields. And, of course, a sky net. According to discussions in the official Slime Rancher discord, the favorite Batty Largo is a Batty Boom, if nothing else than just for the name.

These adorable prehistoric slimes were in Slime Rancher the first, but they could only ever be found in their largo form. In Slime Rancher 2, Bea LeBeau has discovered the original hunting ground of the Saber slimes, Powderfall Bluffs, as an icy time capsule has defrosted bringing the ancient sites and creatures within it back to life. That means we can discover base Saber slimes for the first time, as well as their favorite food, the ever-so-cool Thundercluck chickens.

A Largo slime is the umbrella term for any slime that has been created from two source slimes. These are actually the best way to farm plorts, as housing them requires fewer corrals, and their favorite food options increase, making it easier to gather the maximum number of plorts. When one slime eats the plort of another slime, it will take on the combined form of the two. For example, feeding a Cotton slime a Boom plort will create a Cotton/Boom hybrid slime and it will double in size. Too big to be sucked into your vac, Largo slimes can instead be carried on the end of the device due to the suction, if you need to move one to another area.

In the early game, Tarr slimes can be defeated by picking them up on the end of your vac and shooting them into the ocean. However, this is time consuming and a little dangerous, so upgrade your vac to include a water tank ASAP, as shooting water at a Tarr will cause it to despawn.

This one will take a bit of work to get done. You need to get these largos somewhere that they're not going to have tarr issues by eating another slimes plort after already being a largo so don't feed them again after they're a largo. Then just work on creating them from different combos until you get it. Even if you do a pink slime combined with every other type they'll all count as different ones so it really isn't THAT difficult to do.

So of course we first have to place down a silo, upgrade it fully to get all four sides of storage, then fill it with whatever you have a lot of. Whether that be food types, or plorts, as those are the easiest to get a lot of, just fill them up to 50 for every one of those and you'll get this achievement.

This one can be a bit tricky, but once you know what to look, and listen, for it gets pretty simple. You just have to get a little lucky. First you'll want to get up to level 22 of the 7Zee Rewards Club where you unlock golden sureshot. This makes it to where you always get 3 golden plorts from a slime when you shoot food at it.

This is pretty simple as well. You'll want to suck in a large amount of slimes first, maybe 30 or so, and then shoot them all into as enclosed of an area as possible. Either a sort of corner of the map, inside of a cave, whatever. Then just start sucking them up and you as long as you have 15 within your vacuum's range you'll get the achievement.

So first make a pond somewhere, or use the one built into one of the expansions, and you'll want to first have a water slime sitting in there since he'll stay put. Then grab one slime from four different other types. Take those to the pond and shoot them in there for the achievement to pop.

I'm not going to go in depth on this one, but I made a video going over the strategy on how you can get all of these in a specific video guide linked below, or from the written version also linked below.

This is another slime gadget and what I found to be the easiest way to take care of this was to make the slimball hoop, put it in the grotto area, and then sit on a ledge with a bunch of pink slimes. And shoot those into the hoop when it comes around to you. Just shoot them as quickly as you can to get as many as possible and that should get you most of the way there. At that point you can just jump around to wherever you need to go to shoot into it, or wait for it to spin back around and do the same thing.
