Hello everyone!
My name is Steve Prater and Igor has given me the opportunity to lead a discussion with the group next Wednesday, the 18th. The topic will be a favorite of everyone's I'm sure. We will be discussing DEATH and mortality! OK, perhaps it won't be everyone's favorite topic but it is certainly a condition that will affect everyone at some point or another. What is death to you? What do you think it means in the grand scheme of things? Do you embrace it as a natural part of the life cycle or does the mere thought of death make you cringe and fall over the threshold of sanity? Whether your view is humanist, existential or agnostic, I think this will make for an interesting discussion. Think about how fascinated our society is with death, though we may not all admit it. All one has to do is look at television, movies and music to see examples too numerous to mention, although "Six Feet Under" certainly comes to my mind. In the meantime I have attached an article titled, "Replenishing The World", that should give you all some food for thought. Laura Pate has offered to host our weekly rant and we appreciate it very much. Her address is at the bottom of the email. Everyone is encouraged to bring a snack or two along with some beverages. Let's also make sure to clean up after ourselves, Laura will most certainly appreciate that! If there are any changes they will be posted ASAP. Enjoy your weekend everyone!
