The meeting this week concerns the idea of the "3rd Generation" of technology. 3rd Generation technology is what we have when we take current technology beyond its logical evolution, surpassing 2nd generation technology, so that it becomes something revolutionary
in the 3rd generation. An example of this is the smart phone. Telephone technology progressed and the cell phone was the next generation, but the smart phone- able to do almost any technological task- is not something that could have been forseen without knowing
the effect computers and miniturization would have.
The format for this weeks meeting is different. Each of the listed volunteers is going to present a short topic on their interpretation of 3rd generation technology within a certain area. The topics and speakers are as follows;
Becky- Moog Synthesizer (musical instruments)
Igor- cannabis
Kathy- birth control
Megan- home security
Laura- vibrators
Christopher- space vehicles
James- bio improvement/plastic surgery
Reid- communications
The talk will be moderated to keep everyone on topic and each person wil receive approximately equal time to speak based on feedback and questions.
The meeting place is Heritage Hall room 102. The meeting time is 11/14 at 7pm for socializing and at 730pm the discussions begin. We end promptly at 9pm to plan next weeks meeting. See you there!
