Welcome to Birmingham Ride Finder! Use this group page to post anytime you are looking for someone to ride with in the Birmingham area.
Here are the current regularly-scheduled rides in Birmingham:*
This is the SPRING - SUMMER schedule, effective from "Spring Forward" in March through roughly mid-October.
Monday:
- 5:30 Recovery-Moderate pace ride from Birmingham Bicycle Co.
- 5:30 Women's only ride from BBC. Beginner friendly to intermediate. Will have A/B groups, route will get more difficult as the season progresses. BEGINS APRIL 6.
- 6 - Monday 6:00PM Beginner/Recovery ride at Cahaba Cycles Trussville will run through September. Ride will be 15 to 20 miles. Contact Wayne Spooner for details.
Tuesday:
- 5:30 Tuesday Worlds (hard, race pace drop ride with constant attacks, 2 - 2.5 hours) from Bob's Bikes;
- 5:30 Triathletes ride from Mt Brook Y (BEGINS APRIL 1 - varying paces from very fast to beginner friendly, 22-27 miles);
- 5:30 No-drop ride from south trailhead at Oak Mt.,
- 5:40 Cahaba Cycles Trussville - Moderate pace with regrouping
- 5:40 Pepper Place / Botanical Gardens ride (moderate-up-tempo). Departs from B'ham Botanical Gardens starting on the first Tuesday in April (ends for the year September 30).
Wednesday:
- 4:30 Wednesday Night Mafia MTB ride at Oak Mt. South Trailhead. From ride leader Bo: "We kinda have a A/B format. Bring a lawn chair, six pack and some peanuts(in the shell). The ride is kinda hard, the beer drinking will hurt your feelings. I plan to increase the cook out interval this season." This ride is personally endorsed by your Birmingham Ride Finder group administrator.
- 5:30pm Dan Taylor's Clock Tower Ride; up-tempo pacelines with some regrouping;
- 5:30pm beginner ride from Bob's Bikes (ends for the year on Labor Day). About 20 miles. Beginner and Intermediate pace.
- 5:30pm YMCA Greystone out-and-back ride on Hwy 41 (Amy Gravlee)
- 6:00pm Watermelon ride (moderate social pace) at Oak Mt State Park.
Thursday:
- 5:30 moderate-pace ride from BBC (1.5 hours);
- Gardendale Hamburger Heaven Ride 5:30 - 2 hours with regrouping. Contact Allen Folse for more information.
- 5:40 Cahaba Cycles Trussville - Moderate pace with regrouping
- 5:30 pm Dirty Thursdee MTB ride at Oak Mt (mix of riders from fast to moderate).
- 5:50 pm BBC Hill ride (moderate uptempo with some tough climbing, but regrouping)
Friday:
- 2:30 Dan's Beer ride (moderate - up-tempo with refreshments after) from Bob's.
Saturday:
- 7 am BBC ride (up-tempo 3-4 hour endurance ride) (BBC Saturday morning ride moves time and distance throughout the year - stay tuned to BRF for details.);
- 7 am road ride from Brownell Travel / NBC Bank on Lakeshore (moves to 6:30 in May, then 6:00 a.m. in June). 18, 27, and 51 mile options. Some triathletes / duathletes will run after.
- 7:30 am Cahaba Cycles Chris Barksdale / Jonathan Robbins ride (2-3 hours, up-tempo pace);
- 7 AM Cahaba Cycles Pelham - moderate pace, 40-45 miles from the shop through Montevallo and back
- 9:00 AM Beginner and Intermediate ride from Bob's, 25 miles, regrouping
- 9:00 AM Mountain Bike ride Beginner and intermediate;
- 8:30 - 9:30 Dan Taylor ride from Mt Brook Starbucks (up-tempo, 3-4 hours, time varies)
- 9:00 Life Time Fitness / Cahaba Cycles beginner Mountain Bike ride -- Oak Mt. State Park south trailhead.
- Every other Saturday: Women's only ride led by Magic City Cycle Chix, various locations, details at MCC website / contact Angela Schmidt (angelars...@gmail.com) for more information. Begins April 11.
Sunday:
- 1:30 Dan Taylor Mt Brook Starbucks ride (2-3 hours, moderately up-tempo pace)
- 2:30 PM Lifetime Fitness road ride from Avondale Park. 5 Groups with ride leads. 5 organized groups rolling out with Ride Leads in each group: As - 30 miles; Bs - 25 miles; B transitions - 22 miles; Cs - 20 miles; and Beginners - 12 miles). This is the FALL-WINTER Recurring Ride Schedule:
Monday:
- 5:30 p.m. Recovery ride from BBC. Led by Mike Fisher. Lights required.
Tuesday
- 12:30 Mt. Brook Starbucks - 25-35 mile steady "winter training" pace led by Terri Jones.
- Pepper Place Ride - starts at Pepper Place ~5:50. Some climbing with moderate pace and regrouping in between. Lights required.
Wednesday:
- Bob's Night Ride. 6 PM, 1-2 hours, slow to moderate with regrouping. Lights required.
Thursday
- Cahaba Cycles Dirty Thursday MTB ride at Oak Mt. State Park - 5:45. Two dedicated ride leads for a faster group and a more moderate-paced group. Meets at south trailhead, must have lights. Stacey Davis.
- Gardendale Hamburger Heaven Ride 5:30 - 2 hours with regrouping
- Dirtdog's BBC Night Ride - 5:40, 2 hours, regrouping, lights required.
- Redemptive Cycles ride at 6:30. Meet at RC's shop downtown at 6 and rolling by 6:30. A laid back social ride through downtown B'ham.
Friday
- Dan's Beer Ride - Bob's Bikes, 2:00, 1.5 - 2 hours, moderate up-tempo with regrouping and recovery beverages
Saturday
- Saturday Morning Donut. 7am Saturday Mornings, 42miles, from Bike Link in Hoover. Led by Jason Bierley.
- Hardwick-led ride from Bob's Bikes. 9am start, 20-26 miles at 13-15 mph. Minimum ride temp is 45 degrees.
- BBL. 9:00 Irondale Starbucks. Structured group ride that will evolve as we progress into the winter to include attack zones. Regrouping will occur following attack zones, but you must be able to maintain an 18-20mph pace for 4 hours to complete this ride. Route will vary a little and will include a short (3 hour) and long (3.5-4 hour) option.
Sunday:
- 1:30 Dan Taylor Mt Brook Starbucks ride (2-3 hours, moderately up-tempo pace)
- Avondale Sunday ride continues thru fall and winter! Ongoing from Nov 1: 2:00 rollout in deference to the time change instead of 2:30 as it has been during DST, same 4 groups as Lifetime Fitness ride depending on who shows up.
