Hi JUG,
As I suspected would happen, I failed to send out the email for this month's cancellation. I composed it about a week ago, but it lived unhappily in the drafts section forever.
In any case, the meeting for this month is cancelled.
Allstates is having a company meeting and we would have had to reschedule anyway, but more importantly no one claimed the presentation spot.
It's cheap and whiny to beg, but my ego can take the beating. Please consider taking on the task of presenting for August (or future) meetings. Presentations can be of any length, from a 10 minute talk on something you've found that you like but don't know much about to an hour long in-depth educational session.
There are thousands of topics available, but here's an idea: Pick a RefCard about a Java (or Java-related) topic off DZone [1] and use it to learn about the topic. Then take 15 minutes to describe the highlights of the topic to the group and write a review of the RefCard for DZone. Everyone wins! If we do 3 of these, it'll be an entire meeting and can be a great fill-in if we have another short month.
Now don't everyone sign up at once. No. Wait. Strike that. Everyone go ahead and sign up at once.
Also, there's the topic list from our previous discussions, which might influence a choice of topics:
- Hudson
- Java 7 features
- Servlet 3.0
- Hudson
- Various open source tools we use or should use
- Apache Camel
- Apache Commons Lang

- Nexus
-
