Birmingham City University are running TechFest 2012 on Saturday 16th June at
Millenium Point in Brimingham.

TechFest will host the UK Micromouse championships.
This includes competitions for *autonomouse* robots:
- Micromouse Maze solving
- Line-followers
- Wall-followers
- Time-trials
- Drag racing
- Mini-Sumo

The competitions are free to enter, and the rules are at:
http://www.bcu.ac.uk/tee/events/techfest/micromouse/competition

Most events have three categories:
- School - it is part of a school activity to build and race the robot
- Junior - under 18's who build and program the robots themselves
- Senior - 18 and over

So you have three weeks to make something!

There will be other robot activities too. In previous years there have been
remote control sumo, which is like miniature robot-wars (small enough to do at home:-). There were also demo's of
humanoid robots, etc.

There are also stands from technology companies, who will be showing their wares.

It is free to enter, so there are few obstacles to going along :-)

More details, and directions at:

There is a provisonal schedule at:
http://www.micromouseonline.com/2012/04/22/techfest-2012-preliminary-schedule/#a\

Note - there is usually a competitor briefing, which I don't see on that
schedule, before the practice sessions, so maybe ensure you arrive before
9:30-ish.

Also Note: There is a smaller Micromouse competition in November, which has the same
events but fewer competitors. So if folks are thinking of making a robot, go
along to this summer event, see what interests yiou, and aim to be ready by
November.

For anyone who wants to practice on mazes or tracks, discuss ideas, or get
advice, there is a monthly meeting at Millenium point in BCU of the Midlands
Robotics and Micromouse club. I'll post details as a separate thread.
