But it's Grade A Prime spam.

I take it all with a shaker of salt. It will be nice to have another
butcher in the neighborhood (I include Whole Foods in that count).
We'll see how it all turns out.

Being a pig man myself, I hope it's Duroc/Berkshire (preferably Fudge
Farms or even Sequatchie Cove because they're relatively local) or
some other heritage breed and not some feedlot pork.

I've been visiting my local butcher, The Cajun Cleaver in Hoover, on
an almost weekly basis. He carries Duroc pork and Meyer beef. The
name of the shop can be somewhat of a misnomer, given that he carries
much more than just Cajun items, although their Andouille and Boudin
are wonderful, as are all of their sausages (especially the spicy
Italian). They've special ordered for me several times, including a
belly and a Duroc crown roast. Great beer selection as well.

It's probably not real close to you Big Daddy, but I thought I'd throw
it out there when I saw you mention Duroc pork.

Thanks, G.

A couple of times that I've been out that way I've looked for it, but
was not successful. Is it off 150? If so, which side of I-459? Is it
down by Lake Cyrus/Russett Woods communities?
Duroc belly sounds like heaven.

It's on the north side of 459, past the new Target, on the right hand side.
It's well before Lake Cyrus and Ross Bridge and is located in a strip mall
with a Moe's BBQ, La Brisa Mexican Restaurant, and a Jubilee Joe's.

Nick, the owner, has given me many free samples, including beers. He once
gave me a small Meyer filet (I'd bought a regular filet and a regular NY
Strip) to use for comparisons. Turns out there was no comparison. I'm more
of a strip kind of guy, but the Meyer filet was heads above the regular
Angus. I've since had the Meyer NY strips and haven't noticed much of a
difference, but I did overcook the strips both times.

Sounds like a shameless plug, but I'm a sucker for great customer service
(and free beer and steak don't hurt, either). If you make it, tell him
David sent you.
