The Teacher:
Ayyā Medhānandī Bhikkhunī, is the founder and guiding teacher of Sati Sārāņīya Hermitage in Perth, Ontario, a forest monastery for women and the first of its kind in Canada. She began a spiritual quest in childhood that led her to India, Burma, England, New Zealand, Malaysia and, in 2007, to Taiwan. There she took full bhikkhunī ordination after living for 19 years as a ten-precept Theravāda nun. Ayyā was trained in the Burmese vipassana lineage of Sayadaw U  Pandita, and in the Ajahn Chah Thai Forest Sangha tradition at Amaravati Buddhist monastery in England. Her book of Dhamma reflections, ‘Gone Forth, Going Beyond’, was published in 2007.

Dates: 7 pm Friday May 27 – 3 pm Sunday May 29. (Check in 5:00-6:45 pm)

Location: SameSun Silver Star Hostel, 9898 Pinnacles Rd, Vernon, B.C.
(up at Silver Star Mountain, 30 minutes from Vernon)

Cost: $160.00 - does not include Dana (donation for the teacher). Includes simple breakfast, midday meal and tea; no dinner meals. Includes simple, shared (double) accommodation. Partial retreat attendance is not available.
