Winter Retreat Bookings Now Open
(January 2 - March 27, 2013)

January - March is the annual period of monastic-centred retreat for the resident community of Birken Forest Monastery ('Sitavana').  During this time, we accept a limited number of bookings from experienced meditators who have visited Birken before.

Priority is given to those who have attended previous winter retreats at Birken or who have been visiting Birken for at least two years.  The minimum stay is 1 week; the maximum stay is 4 weeks.  All arrivals and departures must be on Wednesdays, without exception.  Ajahn Sona reviews all applications and selects those who can best benefit from this period of intensive practice.

We are now accepting registration forms for Winter Retreat 2013 (Jan. 2 - Mar. 27) bookings on our website .  Please check Room Vacancies before you book and then submit a full Registration Form for your desired dates, choosing the “Winter Retreat 2013” option.  If the Room Vacancies calendar shows '0' vacancies, you may request to be on a waiting list as we sometimes get cancellations.  In general, we do not take new bookings after the winter retreat begins; all arrangements therefore need to be made before January 1st.
