The sexiest movies, in our esteemed (and steamy) opinion, are those that let the tension build up between the leads for a while. But if you're looking for gratification of the more instant variety, we've also included hot movies where the characters bang the whole way through (ahem, Fifty Shades).

There's a lot of talk about HBO TV shows these days, but steamy movies will never be completely replaced by the small screen. If you're looking for sexual scenes on Netflix, you've probably skimmed your way through Outlander and Bridgerton more than once, and good on you. But have your attention spans really shortened so much? The sexiest movies on Netflix are just as hot. The dancing is dirty for a reason. Sexy movies will never die.

And don't forget romantic movies! Moulin Rouge! is a true love story above all, even if Ewan McGregor's smile did spark a number of smutty sexual awakenings. From the best movies on Netflix to the slightly more risqu movies on Max, our selections are the cinematic equivalent of a bottle of red wine and chocolate-covered strawberries. Bon apptit.

To the surprise of absolutely no one, erotic fiction makes great source material for movies with sex scenes. One of the best examples of this: Red, White & Royal Blue, a delightful and steamy romantic comedy based on Casey McQuiston's hit book.

Some of the sexiest movie scenes don't involve any sex at all, though this movie does have plenty of that too. Case in point: The hottest moments in this psychological thriller about a dominatrix (Margaret Qualley) and her client (Christopher Abbott) are when they're verbally sparring over who's really in control.

The novel, about an affair between a young married woman and her gameskeeper, was literally banned in several countries for being too sexy. So yeah, it's worth the watch. Definitely the sexiest movie based on a book you can find.

Tragic, horrifying, swoon-worthy. Everything in the fountain, and oh God, everything in the library. If you get turned on by The Hand Flex in Pride & Prejudice, you'll simply combust watching Atonement.

Barry Jenkins's drama famously won best picture (not La La Land!) and remains one of the best movies about being young, Black, and gay ever made. It's not for the faint of heart, but it will make you feel.

Based on the award-winning play, this dead-serious drama about love triangles (quadrangles?) lives in the moral gray area, following characters who aren't vicious but desperately human. And really, really hot.

A devastatingly beautiful historical romance about the affair between a French noblewoman and a painter. Portrait of a Lady on Fire may be a sexy movie, but it's also a work of art.

Available to stream on Hulu

Patrick Swayze is the female gaze. Coming of age has never been rendered so tenderly as it was in the story of Baby, on vacation with her parents, stepping across the threshold into adulthood (and carrying a watermelon) and putting her body on the line to become Johnny's dance partner.

This tale of an inner-city dance instructor who combines ballroom and hip-hop had the misfortunate to premiere the same year as Step Up, which made 10 times as much and basically guaranteed that no one would remember Take the Lead. But it's a solid and sexy little movie, perfect if you're in the mood for a Banderas more than a Tatum. (Yes, Jenna Dewan is in both movies.)

If we're being honest, all you really need/want to see in Magic Mike's Last Dance can be found in the first scene between Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek Pinault. It's one of Magic Mike's best dances in the whole movie series.

The spy-versus-spy movie so hot we've been dealing with the fallout for almost 20 years. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's chemistry is undeniable: Everyone knew about their real-life affair long before they confirmed the relationship. It was all right there on the screen!

Pedro Almodvar's screwball comedy features a young and swelteringly hot Antonio Banderas and combines elements of rom-com and noir to create something truly unique (and one of the sexiest movies on this list).

Mumblecore-romance alert! All your indie faves make appearances in this microcosmic love story about two women who decide to spend 24 hours together to see if they can't find a shortcut to intimacy. Not a bad idea.

Whatever you think of the messaging or the filmmaking in this franchise, you can't deny that Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson helped normalize conversations about BDSM and put it all on the line to bring Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele to life. They get up to every act under the sun, and even if it's not graphic, it's at least thorough. They do be banging.

This was porn for your mom, actually. Meryl Streep earned an Academy Award nom for her role as a housewife whose passionate side is unlocked by a visiting photographer (Clint Eastwood). Based on a novel of the same name, this movie was so popular it also inspired a short-lived Broadway musical.

One of our favorite mystery movies, then-married couple Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman star in this psychological thriller about a New York City doctor who becomes unmoored after learning his wife once considered being unfaithful. He then embarks on a night-long adventure that ultimately culminates at a mysterious orgy.

Sometimes you need just the right movie to spice things up and set the mood. They don't call it Netflix and Chill for no reason. With that in mind, we combed through the Netflix catalog so you don't have to in order to find the best hot, steamy, and downright sexy movies on Netflix. OK, so some of these may not be considered conventionally sexy, or maybe they start off hot and heavy before descending into tragedy and trauma, but all of these films confront and explore the spectrum of human sexuality in cinema. From romantic comedies to erotic thrillers and prestige dramas Netflix's selection runs the gamut.

OK, yes, Duck Butter is a very stressful movie, but it's also a very sexy stressful movie. The indie drama stars Alia Shawkat and Laia Costa as a pair of artists who strike up an instant connection and decide to skip dating and jump right into intimacy by spending 24 hours together. It starts out pretty grand, all sex and deep conversations, and more sex, but eventually, the cracks start to show, and the women learn just how flawed they both are during their heated act of self-exploration. It's essentially the rise and fall of a romantic relationship contained within 24 hours, with all the eroticism and heartbreak that comes with that. So this might not be your best option if you're looking to Netflix and chill, but as far as sexy portrayals of intimacy go, it doesn't get much steamier than the chemistry between Shawkat and Costa. -- Haleigh Foutch

Berlin Syndrome walks a very fine, very sharp line. It's a horrific, sometimes punishing drama about one woman's captivity and abuse at the hands of an otherwise charming man. But it's also a very effective erotic thriller that hinges on the tremendous chemistry between its leads and offers a raw insight into the highs and lows of their romance without exploiting them, pulling from the undercurrent of erotic tension to further drive the knife home as a terrifying survival story.

Teresa Palmer stars as Clare Havel, a young Australian photojournalist on vacation in Berlin. She's living the dream. Taking in the sights, falling in love with a new city, and just maybe falling in love with a handsome local man, Andi (Max Riemelt), who strikes up a passionate romance with her. But after she goes back to his place for a romantic night, she wakes up to the next morning to realize he's locked her in his apartment on his way to work, and with a slow dawning terror, she understands that he never intends to let her out. This is how we enter Berlin Syndrome, Cate Shortland's taut thriller, which takes us through every step of their courtship and Clare's subsequent imprisonment in a slow-burn portrait of psychological terror and the human capacity for survival. -- Haleigh Foutch

doing this will skip 10 seconds from 150th second to 160th second and stop the video at the 5400-second mark. You can edit these times according to the part you want to skip. You can remove stop-time=5400 to play the video till end.

If you already know where the parts are that you want to cut out, I would edit the file in any of the numerous video editors. Even Windows Movie Maker or iMovie would do the job, and those are easily available on both major OSes.

This is a requested feature for VLC. Not really anything user-friendly out there. Still, VLC offers the possibility to create playlists in a certain format that would mute or skip parts of a file. This is called XSPF. You might be able to figure out the proper format for this.

A VLC based editor built in python that allows users to create and use custom filter files to make movies more family friendly. Allows users to have the player automatically mute specific words or skip certain scenes based on the content of those scenes.

Clean Editing Movie Player allows you watch edited movies by applying delete lists (EDL's) (i.e. "mute out" or "cut out" scenes) to DVD's/files, with preliminary support for also applying them to arbitrary web/internet based players like netflix instant, hulu/hulu plus etc

There is a way to do this in VLC, if not too elegant. Load the movie you want, open the playlist, make sure your movie is the only one in the playlist, and use Media -> Save Playlist to File to create an xspf file. Now you can achieve what you want by playing the with "extension" field. Here is an example:

Then save this again as an xspf file and open it with VLC (Media -> Open File). The example above becomes black between 52:23 and 53:14 (the times are in seconds in the file. 3142 and 3193 seconds). Basically you need to replicate the section and change the section to match the options and desired times.
