I am using Startup Delayer from R2 Studios during my Windows 7 startup. However the only app currently which seems that I cannot influence is Dropbox. I had moved the Dropbox from the standard startup to the Startup Delayer controlled database.
Since Dropbox updates pretty frequently it got somehow back to the startup but I cannot find it anywhere. There is nothing in AppData/...../Startup, nor C:/ProgramData/Microsoft/Windows/Startup, nor Run key in registry under HKCU and HKLM, (now it is getting awkward) nor the Services, nor Tasks (maybe here I overlooked something but I doubt it).
It just overwrites this change when Dropbox next runs. You have to actually change the setting in Dropbox preferences to stop it overwriting. Maybe this is effecting the Startup Delayer? Maybe if you turn the autostartup off in Dropbox preferences then manually make it a startup item, the delay won't get overwritten? If that's even what's happening.
The issue you're running into is that Startup Delayer is not capturing Dropbox consistently to have it run when you want. You have to turn Dropbox startup off, then include it manually within Startup Delayer.
I agree with Alcafly. I've never personally experienced this issue (across thousands of computers) with DropBox whenever I've manually disallowed it from running on startup. If your using a 3rd party application to control the startup process then I suggest using MSCONFIG to completely disable (DropBox's) control over automatically starting. This should also prevent it from reverting back after an update.
Hi, I'm new here and you've probably seen the following before so, for that, I apologise; anyhow, here it goes: is there a way to effectively delay the start-up of Eset smart security? I've tried Startup Delayer but to no avail. The problem is that Startup Delayer only delays the program's startup but not the service's and when the latter starts at boot it automatically starts the program as well. There's no point going into the services because Eset won't allow any changes. Many programs allow their start-up to be delayed from within their own settings but Eset doesn't seem to have such an option.

I think that you should monitor your system and see if any conflicts occur. If not then your solution would be the correct one. The only way I can see to disable ASC startup manager, is to go into the Program files and disable the starup manager.exe. I would not recommend this as such actions can cause association problems.
Most motherboards have a fast booting option toggle that you can use to cut down on the number of things the BIOS does at startup and to remove any artificial delays, such as the one that waits for you to press the button that launches the BIOS. We have used delayer backed by message store in our solution and put the delay of 15 min for the message to flow if some spel expression condition is true.But if the application server is restarted in middle then delayer becomes a curse for the solution and all the messages are not being recovered from delayer and it becomes a dangling situation.
