From one of the TMAD Members, Mr. Satyakrishna

=========================

HI Friends,

26th of this month my cousin daughter's first birthday. They want to
celebrate her birthday to give food in an orphanage or semi orphanage.
They are ready to spend around Rs. 5,000/- and they are ready to give
Rx. 25,000/- for one girl child education. She must be an Orphan.

Can you give me phone numbers and contact addresses of some orphanages
that are near by Ameerpet or atleast in city limits. Suggest one girl
child name also.

Waiting for your reply.

Thanks & regards

This is an excellent idea. My daughter's birthday is on the 16th and I would like to do the same. Since i am already sponsoring children education, I would like to sponsor food in an orphanage on my daughter's birthday. So do share information regarding the same.

This is one idea I am happy to copy with glee and be proud of it.

Cheers

Hi Suresh/Krishna,

Appreciate your idea of celebrating your daughter's birthdays in orphanage.I am sure this will definitely leave some lasting memories to your family.

We have visited many orphanages and provided  a day's lunch for some of them.As far as I know, actually there are not many orphanages in and around Ameer pet.

Based on my observations,my inputs are below.

Orgs other than Orphanages Near Ameer pet :
------------------------------------
1)
Ashray Akruthi school for Deaf
Hostel in Begum pet.we can sponsor a day's lunch or dinner there.
well established and equipped organization. We found many visitors spending time with the children.

2)Devnar Foundation for the blind.
Around 200 members.
Hostel in Begum pet.we can sponsor a day's lunch or dinner there.
A day's  normal lunch  in the school costs Rs.3000.
well established and equipped organization. We found  many visitors spending time with the children.

Details can be easily found in Net for these.Else, I can provide.

Far form Ameer pet. But,need basis :
----------------------------------------------------

1)HIV : AGAPE  children home : 150-180 members (90 members :girls)
Location : Near Uppal chourastha
Age group :5-14 years

Not many people visit this home.If you want to leave some happy moments to children,I would recommend this.when we visited and spent time, children were very happy.
If you are interested let me know,I shall give the contact person  name, details.
====================================================

Sponsoring Education :
------------------------------------------

There are several other orphanages I know and visited in secundrabad like DBNJ, navjeevan auxilleum etc. But, they are all well established and well equipped in all ways.
But, I can provide you the information if required.

So,for sponsoring girl child education, I recommed you to enquire thoroughly and find any orphan student who is really in Need.

If you are interested,I recommend that you can sponsor education to one of the below 4 girl orphan children. They stay at New life children Home,Mahboob Nagar.
Personally and based on the reports, from the below students, Nagamani is very intelligent and interested in studies.
1)Nagamani : 9 years : 2nd class :Very Bright student.Always stands first in class.
2)Sirisha  : 8 years : 1st class :Average student
3)Aruna    : 8 years : 1st class :Average student
4)Radhika  : 7 Years : 1st class :Average student (she have step mother)

Please feel free to contact me if any more info required...

Suhasini

Hello Suhasini,

Thanks for coming up with very good details.

This evening I read the local paper of Andhra Jyothi. This is a
different one.

The teachers of Mahboobia Govt. Girls College at Gun Foundry are
requesting donations from Philanthropists and are providing Afternoon
Meal to the poor girls. The total strength of the college is 735 (Jr.
Inter and Sr. Inter). Out of them they selected 135 girls for this
scheme. They gave Identification Cards for these girls. Orphans, Semi-
Orphans and poor girls are being selected after careful scrutiny.

There is an increase in the participation of the students and also in
the percentage of the results.

This might not be an orphanage as such. But as teachers and Principal
are taking good care, this is also a potential place where one can
help.

Hello Friends,

Greetings.

Murthy garu (TMAD Member) has transferred Rs. 5k to my UTI account on
the occasion of his son Sanand's B'day. Sunny turned 15 today. He is
studying 10th Class.

1 08-02-2008 ICONN/2396364/008010100505000/080208/ 5,000.00

Murthy garu and Sunny has left the option with me only to decide on
how I use it.

After a brief interaction with them I decided to use this for
distributing food in the govt. hostel for blind children. This is
where Kiran visits frequently.

High school hostels:
Govt Girls High School for Blind
TV Tower Back Side,
Near Nehru Memorial School,
Malakpet -B Block,
Hyderabad.

Govt Boys High School for Blind

Govt Girls Hostel for the Blind

Instead of giving money directly we, TMAD members, will go there one
day and participate in the food distribution. Will update you all soon
once we fix the date.

Thank you.

with regards,
Prasanthi.

Friends,

One more support to this idea.

Mr. Kumar Reddy, TMAD member of US Chapter, is willing to contribute
100$ for this cause: Food Distribution in the Blind School.

As per Mr. Kiran who visits the boy school every sunday for the past
one and half year or so, told me that it would cost around Rs. 4000 to
give a sumptuous mail to them.

Anyway we will work out the details.

Ajit,

On behalf of EHSAAS you are distributing food to Mother Teresa Old Age
Home inmates on the first sunday of every month. So what are the
expenses details?

I will also ask other institution which is into food distribution and
find out how they do.

Most probably we may go for distribution on 22nd of this month.

Hi All,

i spoke to a Ms. Pushpa, who is a coordinator for Ananda Nilayam an orphanage for girls. They have branches in Bolarum and Moulali with 70-80 kids in each and the understanding I have, is that the situation is quite bad there.

If you want to provide food the children there, all you have to do is pay for the provisions. They have a kitchen and the staff to prepare the food and distribute to the children. You need to provide the provisions the day before to give time for preparation. The cost is somewhere around 1200-1500 depending on the items to be provided, which is very reasonable for the numbers. Sweets etc are not included in the menu.

I am waiting to hear from Pushpa on the response from the orphanage as apparently the principal has to approve activities. I will keep the group posted.

If you know of any other such orphanages within the city, please post the information here. I would like to work with one that is reasonably nearby so that I can keep in personal touch with them.

Thank you
Suresh A

As a quick update, I did visit the orphanage on Friday and had lunch with the kids there on Saturday along with my daughter and my father-in-law. Not really sure how much difference it made to the kids, but was a good experience for my daughter.

The place is reasonably well maintained. Helps that they are part of the Railway quarters with lot of open space and fresh air. There are about 80 girls staying in 3 rooms. Youngest about 6 years and oldest around 14. They seemed to be well taken care of. All of them go to school nearby and government pays for their stay, school, books, uniform, food etc. They get occasional donations from outsiders. A doctor comes for a health checkup once a quarter. I did not see any health concerns among the kids. Did not get much chance to interact with them since they had exams on the day. Food was tasty and healthy mixture of rice, vegetables and lentils. My daughter distributed chocolates, sweets and bananas.

The warden's name is Pushpa. Her contact number is 9849872495.

I plan to visit them again in the near future. If anyone wants to come along, let me know and we will plan for a weekend visit.

Cheers
Suresh A
