Nandan Saxena & Kavita Bahl are independent filmmakers and media-trainers with over 40 films to their credit, many of them feature-length.
After their Masters in World Literature and a diploma in journalism, Kavita reported for the Indian Express and Nandan worked as a television journalist for seven years, in what they call their previous life. Of these, two fruitful years spent in the northeast India changed their lives.
In 1996, they quit their jobs to follow their dreams.
Over two decades into filmmaking, their films are poignant portraits of these times, often blurring the thin line between documentary and cinema.
Besides other awards, they have been honoured with the prestigious National Film Award for their films thrice:
‘Cotton for my shroud’: Silver Lotus - Best Investigative Film / NFA–2011; [Headline Film: World Investigative Film Week @ London-2013]
‘Candles in the wind’: Special mention / NFA–2013; [World Premiere @ Thessaloniki-Greece]
‘I cannot give you my Forest’: Silver Lotus - Best Film on Environment / NFA–2014.
As media-trainers and knowledge-partners, they offer workshops to initiate inquisitive minds into filmmaking under the banner - Quark Workshops.
They have offered more than thirty Workshops for
organisations like the Films Division, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting,
Educational institutions in India and London; and
at major Film Festivals like International Film Festival of India (IFFI-Goa).
They have also taught Photography and Video-Production at with the Department of Culture and Media Studies, Central University of Rajasthan.
Nandan is also an avid photographer. In 2009, he had a 30-day solo exhibition of his photographs at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
Both Nandan and Kavita have been TEDx speakers.

in 2016 we organized a panel debate in Bielefeld University on the potentials and hazards of the new methods of genetic engineering in agriculture (CRISPR-cas and other gene editing methods). On the panel
there was Prof.Dr. Joachim Schiemann (head of the Institute for Biosafety in Plant Biotechnology at Julius Kühn Institute), Prof. Dr. Andreas Fisahn (public law expert at Bielefeld University, focusing also on environmental law), and Dr. Ricarda Steinbrecher (molecular geneticist and developmental biologist who acted as scientific expert in governmental and public consultations and court cases).

It is extremely difficult to get the different sides on one table, so you may find this useful for your purpose. The debate took place in German, the video has simultaneous translation in English. Below in the description you can find links to different sections.
I would particularly highlight the presentation of Ricarda Steinbrecher where she underlines the need to regulate and the disambiguation of "precision" and "safety":

Or a very short clip of Joachim Schiemann answering a question on the conflict of interest when ILSI + EFSA created the current EU framework for GMO regulation. He did not really answer the question, but it may be interesting to see how he beats around the bush:

Dear friends, I am planning to engage citizens of Delhi more regularly in their localities by doing some workshops, activities, short movie screenings etc. periodically from time to time to create awareness and engage them about farmers issues, safe food etc. I need your help in collating a list of movies, documentaries, activities which we can do to sensitise them. Looking forward!
