to Birding - With a Purpose
May 23, 2008, Friday. Woodway Park. 8:00 AM-10:40 AM. 77-88F.

It is hot and humid in Texas. The skies were overcast to begin but
turned sunny by 10:00. There was a bit of wind at times. 30 species
of birds were recorded. The best birds were the Roadrunners, two seen
separately and at two different times; and a Common Nighthawk. I was
surprised by a hummingbird but was not able to identify it. The birds
in greatest numbers were the Northern Cardinals, the Mourning Doves
and the Common Grackles. Five different species of flycatchers were
noted. A complete list follows.
