Greetings to all members of the Birding- with a purpose Googlegroup:
David McCauley here, I am a birder and nature photographer/digiscoper.
I
live in Veracruz Mexico.
There are a lot of options for birders out on the web. I have thought
a lot
about what I could do making this group different.
Here are a few things that I have observed in other groups that I
would like
to avoid here....
1. RESPECT - Birders are at all different levels on the learning
curve...lets respect
that. Know-it-all elitist birders are annoying...if you are one of
them just move
on, this group is not for you.
2. There has been recent trend in birding that I call "listing
obsession"... for me , birding is more than collecting a list of
species.
On the positive side.....
This group is about SHARING your birding experience with others,
sharing in a way that enriches, education, conservation.
sightings at your backyard feeder, a recent birding trip, your latest
sighting, identification questions and tips, a poem or written nature
observation or bird photographs.
I believe that birding and spending time in nature enriches our lives,
it
has added dimension to mine. I look forward to birders joining this
group to
share this enthusiasm and dedication for birding with others.
