Subject: [Birding-Aus] RFI - Mt Isa and Barkly Tablelands
Dear All
I'm travelling up to Mount Isa at the weekend, overseeing some remote
ecological surveys and doing some other environmental stuff, setting up a
weather station etc. on part of the Barkly Tablelands for the week. I've
spoken to Bob Forsyth about 'what's about' round Mount Isa - but has anyone
birded the Tablelands recently? Any little Letter-winged Kite colonies up
there that I haven't heard about!?!
I'll be out looking of course and will report back what I find but any info.
would be great.
thanksRob Morris Brisbane, Australia

I saw a lone Flock Bronzewing drinking at the Playford River crossing last Wednesday (30 April). No sign of the Yellow Chat at the bore 21 km north of here.....oh well....
If you feel the need for a drive I saw Gouldian Finch with chicks at the T&T site for Carpentarian G'wren west of Borroloola (only about 450 km from the road house). The Tablelands Hwy is a great drive, spectacular in bits, less so in the cow country.
Hope this helps.
