The purpose of
these challenges is for birders keep track of their own sightings while at the same time help document India's birds.
The challenges are run as part of a
large consortium of organisations and groups,
whose goal is to document the distribution and abundance of Indian birds on a common and open platform.
Until now, over 350,000 observations of Indian birds have been
contributed to the eBird platform, of which nearly 50% have come from
2014 so far.
