Dear friends,
As you may already know, this year's GBBC weekend saw a huge amount of birding activity: a tremendous increase over last year.
The difference between last year and this year is illustrated in this series of maps of list locations:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=233153766868279&set=gm.475075115926309&type=1Over 3,000 bird lists have been uploaded from India during the GBBC period. If you have any lists that you haven't yet uploaded to
ebird.org, please do so before 28th Feb (this Friday). Starting next week, we will be creating summaries of the participation and findings from GBBC 2014; and it would excellent to have all available lists represented.
Although India is in third place globally (behind USA and Canada) in terms of
number of lists uploaded during the GBBC weekend, we
lead by a large margin in terms of
number of species: at latest count, 814 species were reported from the country during the four days of the Bird Count.

Happy birding!
