I'm sure many of you have received invitations to prepare or review papers, or to join Editorial Boards for new journals that you may not have previously heard of, many of which state they operate under an  open-access model where papers are freely available on-line once accepted.

There is an ever-increasing list of questionable open-access publishers and individual journals. Many do not identify their Editors or members of their Editorial Boards, they may appear to have addresses in the USA or UK, but are frequently operating out of India, Pakistan and African countries, and many of these journals have titles similar to well-respected journals. All manuscripts submitted to such journals are accepted, with the 'owners' of the journals then requesting a significant 'publication' payment from the authors of such accepted papers.
