Hello,
I am trying it analyze some SAXS data comparing a monomer and dimer RNA. The analysis was going fine until I tried to do the pair-distance distribution analysis using GNOM. I have ATSAS-4.0.0-2 installed and I am using RAW 2.3.0 on a macOS tahoe (26.1). This is the error message I received:

An unexpected error has occurred, please report it to the developers.
System: macOS-26.1-arm64-arm-64bit
RAW version: 2.3.0
Prebuilt: True

Error:

I am following the SAXS tutorial to get all the necessary measurements to get to the GNOM analysis so I am thinking it might be something with my versions or the fact I am using the new macOS update? It has broken some of my other structure softwares as well. Do I need to update my RAW and/or ATSAS versions?

Thank you everyone!

Hi Sarah,

You are using a version of RAW that's more than 18 months old. More recent versions do have some bug fixes related to the more recent versions of ATSAS. I would recommend you update to the newest version of RAW, which is 2.4.1. If that doesn't fix your issue I'd then try updating ATSAS to the latest version, which is 4.1.3.

One thing you should also check is that your ATSAS license is still current. The version 4 license files expire after a year and you have to get a new one at that point. Open Primus or similar (or run an ATSAS program from the command line) and see if you get an error about a license file. Newer versions of RAW attempt to check for that, but the version your using doesn't.

Let me know how it goes.

All the best.
