"Flying rivers" are attracting attention in Colombia

Although the video is in Spanish, you can see how forests in Orinoquia and Amazonia are being transformed into lands (both legal and illegal) for agriculture and cattling, particularly around the Nukak reserve (about the Nukak people, see e.g. https://www.survivalinternational.org/tribes/nukak). 

The video is the first in a series planned by María Jimena Duzán, who is a very influential journalist in Colombia. Interestingly, it explicitly mentions the role of forests in supporting “flying rivers” that link the Atlantic ocean, the Amazon forests, and the Andes mountains. Some scientists, including Germán Poveda and I, have been talking about this in the media, but María Jimena Duzán’s video will attract a much broader audience.
