to Anastassia Makarieva, Biotic Regulation of the Environment

Dear Anastassia, dear colleagues,

first: Thank you, Anastassia, for having invited to the online conference on Tuesday! Although it was sometimes difficult to follow the presentations, because of discontinuities in the translations (I am living in rural area; internet could be improved), the meeting was very interesting, and as I feel, highly necessary. At times, the meeting had more than 120 participants!

I enjoyed your presentation very much!  It was excellent, and you received much acclaim by chat messages. I would be grateful if you could send me this presentation. Is it possible also to get also the PPT’s of the other presentations which have been given in English?

Now some comments:

The lecturers gave important information about the existing situation. But after all I did not get the impression, that it has become clear which steps should be the next and who has which responsibilities (maybe it was not yet the target!). Anyhow there were three presentations, where the headlines promised to tell something about this issue. In my opinion, their message was too general. May be these topics have been discussed during the “General discussion”, after having switched off the translation.

The 3 topics “Definition of a Roadmap”, “Defining the circle of supporters” and the “formation of working groups and a committee” were certainly the most important outputs of the conference. It would be encouraging to know, that these steps have been predefined in terms of envisioned actions that will soon be put in concrete terms. I would appreciate to get this information too.

Helping the theory of Biotic Regulation to be accepted worldwide will surely require huge effort. Without acceptance also in the western scientific communities we cannot succeed in climate mitigation. The countries which have themselves dedicated to this task mainly follow the “fairy tale”, that you only must remove CO2 from the atmosphere and replace the fossil by renewable energies and the world will be completely cured. We know that these actions will only make everything worse! Renewable energies demand much more primary energy in comparison to fossil or nuclear energy because of their lower efficiency and, because of their low energy density, they imply land-footprints which are between 10 to 1000 times higher than those needed by conventional energies and unquestionably will destroy the rest of the virgin nature. Therefore, they are counterproductive regarding the excessive energy use of mankind. In addition, the human consumption of the NPP excessively violates all ecologic limits. Having these facts in mind it is clear, that energy-use and population number and -density must be drastically reduced. These results were Victor’s and your findings already more than 20 years ago – unnoticed until today!

Certainly, it is essential to continue and intensify research in BR-Theory and experiment aimed to clarifying biota’s functions and especially the allowed limits for human interference with nature. But on the other hand, there is not much time left for appropriate reactions to mitigate the climate problem.

Therefore, it seems to me indispensable to make clear for everybody, above all for politicians and mainstream-media, which recommendations of BR-Theory for Climate mitigation must be met and that these requirements must be fulfilled as soon as possible! The rough criteria are known. So, considerable reduction of energy consumption in parallel to reduction of world population in an accepted ethical manner must be started as soon as possible and worldwide. Research, also with respect to the social and economic side effects, must go along with this process.

Perhaps you know the paper „World Scientists’ Warning of a Climate Emergency” (it is attached to this mail). Allegedly this work has 11.000 authors. This is already their second paper, the first was published in 2017. The problems are outlined in this publication, also necessary reactions but these have been expressed for my opinion much too soft. Can you see any reaction upon this publication except plans to reduce CO2 emissions from fossil fuels and to invest into renewables (some also talk about planting of trees)?

As my book about immorality of mankind has only a few readers (who likes it to read about the own immorality?), my there explicitly worded „Climate-Warning” is hardly heard. Therefore, I thought about writing a short book with an easy understandable text message about the only topic “Climate” where the necessary actions, deduced from BR-Theory, are expressed in a distinct and honest manner. The title could be: “Why we won’t succeed in the climate crisis”. I am just thinking about how to design the layout regarding structure and text to find broader attention.  Good ideas are welcome, also readiness for teamwork. It is clear, the message will be most unpopular, but I think it is demanded from the ethical point of view.

I really hope the planned Initiative will be successful; it would be so important for our beautiful planet! I am sure, not alone the scientific aspect is important, but also the political and social aspects. To interconnect these different aspects will certainly be a crucial challenge.

Have a nice week everybody!

Best wishes,

Christian

Dear Colleagues,

I hope that this letter finds you well.

Biotic regulation friends in Central Asia, together with their friends in California, are arranging the following webinar, to spread the biotic regulation knowledge and to bridge the gap between conservation movement and biotic regulation theory. You might find it of interest and you are welcome to participate. Please feel free to share as widely as possible, because the ambitions are high for this initiative even if on Tuesday it will start small. The program file is attached.

Best wishes,

Anastassia
