Thanks, Ugo! An interesting article indeed. Prof. Simard also reminded me of Dr. Grace Augustine, one of the key Avatar's characters, the exobiologist who studied communication of plants on a planet where trees ruled.
In our 2004 discussion of local ecological communities we quoted the study of Lerat et al. 2002 about transfer of radioactive carbon between neighboring plants. It was a follow-up to the pioneering studies of Simard and colleagues.
