Hello everyone,

The BioBytes Student Reading Group is inviting applications from Undergraduate students currently in their First and Second Year to
carry forward the activities of the Reading Group into the coming year.
The BioBytes SRG has been conducting talks and GDs for two semesters now and has seen a positive response from Professors, Grad students and the Undergrad community, with the talks spanning a diverse set of topics from Biology to Computer Science. The focus of the SRG is Bio-inspired Computing and Engineering along with a healthy dose of other related topics.

We are looking for people that are enthusiastic about being a part of a community of researchers and enthusiasts with common interests, and are willing to take forward this student driven initiative forward.

Post of Manager:
We require one Manager to coordinate the activities of the SRG in tandem with the conveners.
Said person should have a vision for the kind of talks and events that the SRG will focus on, and with the drive to talk to and convince speakers to enrich us with their talks. A genuine passion for research and interdisciplinary innovation is strongly desired.
Eligibility: Any undergraduate currently in his/her Second Year is eligible to apply.

Post of Convener:
We require two conveners to assist in organising and publicing the events of the SRG. Being an SRG, you will also be actively involved in contacting speakers and engaging with the community.
An interest in exploring research aligned with the interests of the SRG and the drive to conduct events and see things through is highly desired.
Eligibility: Any undergraduate currently in his/her First Year is elgible to apply.

Why apply?
-The activities of the SRG will be completely in your hands, and the satisfaction of seeing your efforts benefitting a community of interested people including yourself is a very satisfying experience.
-It is also a great opportunity to meet other researchers, and can lead to exciting inter-disciplinary collaborations
-It is a great opportunity to learn how to organise talks and events and to understand how to present things well to others.
-A rising interest for Reading Groups has been perceived in the student community of late, and you can see it grow even further in your tenure.

How and when:
-The deadline to fill the form is 11:59pm, Tuesday, 17th April, 2018.
-The current managers of the SRG will then conduct one-on-one interviews with each candidate (We will try not to meddle with your endsems, so don't worry about that). Please feel free to contact the undersigned if you have any further queries about what to expect from the post and the like.

Best Regards,
